Product Review: Rejuva Minerals Mascara

I mentioned in this month’s progress report that I am trying a new line of makeup.  I have found it to be quite difficult to find makeup that really is safer.  As you know, my go to when it comes to beauty products is the cosmetic database called Skin Deep

Even though there are quite a few companies rated in the low hazard zone, one thing I have learned is  that you still need to do further research.  Most of the safe cosmetics are Mineral Makeup.   Mineral makeup is generally made from all natural, finely ground minerals from the earth, without any of the chemicals, dyes, and preservatives found in traditional makeup.

However, many contain Mica, Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide

So trying to find a brand without the ingredients listed above as well as without parabens and artificial preservatives was a bit of work.  Honestly,  I probably spent well over 8 hours online looking at different brands.

And then I came upon Rejuva Minerals (thank god!).  While they do have a few products that contain Mica, there are plenty of options without.  And I love that you can purchase sample sizes to try it out before committing to a full sized product.

So what did I go with?  Well I decided to order the Mascara, Organic Botanical Bronzer, All Skin Types Loose Powder Foundation and  the Organic Botanicals Finishing Powder.

Let’s talk about the Mascara.  It has a Skin Deep rating of 1 and contains the following ingredients:

Aqua, Isoprene Glycol, Iron Oxide, Hydrogenated Ricinus Communis (Castor), Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran, Stearic Acid, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methyl Soyate, Beeswax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Glycerin (vegetable), Kaolinite, Cetearyl Alcohol, Soy Lecithin, Geogard Ultra (natural preservative) Cellulose, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) gum, Acacia Senegal Gum Extract, Hydrogenated Pistachio Seed Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

I’ve been using the mascara for over a week now and really have no complaints.  It doesn’t irritate my eyes like a lot of other mascaras.  And it’s held it’s own through long work days and even a funeral.  And the price isn’t bad either.  Just $9.95 so it’s comparable with what you would pay in a drugstore.

UPDATE:  So after two weeks of swim lessons with the little one, I want to warn you that this mascara will run.  However, I still love it and will continue to use it.  I’ll just find an alternative for those days I know I’ll be in the water.

Have you tried Rejuva Minerals Mascara before?  How did it work for you?

I have been refering to skin deep a lot in order to find healthy products and I have be a little confused with what it all means. But, after checking out the options for make up, I finally narrowed it down to Rejuva. I’ve already picked out my choices but, have been hesitant to place my order until I found this site, so I think I’ll be placing an order very soon.

Lori,

Glad I could help with your decision. I just updated the post to let you know that if you plan on swimming, this mascara will run. My plan is to use this mascara as my everyday mascara and to purchase a waterproof mascara with a low Skin Deep rating for those days when I know I’ll be in the pool. I have also been using the Rejuva Bronzer and All Skin Types Foundation and I love them as well. The foundation was a little wierd for me at first. I had never used a loose powder foudation, but I have grow to like it as much as any other foundation. Thanks for visiting!
